The company also purchases IT systems, peripherals, system components, packaged software, purchased and licensed software, and networking equipment from OEM suppliers and sells them to its reseller customers, including value-added resellers, corporate resellers, government resellers, system integrators, direct marketers, and retailers. In addition, it provides systems design and build-to-order, and configure-to-order assembly capabilities for OEM contract assembly customers. Further, the company offers electronic data interchange, and Web-based communication links with its reseller customers; a range of financial services, including net terms, third party leasing and floor plan financing, letters of credit, and arrangements to collect payments directly from the end-user; and marketing services. SYNNEX was founded in 1980 as COMPAC Microelectronics, Inc. and changed its name to SYNNEX Information Technologies, Inc. in 1994. Later, it changed its name to SYNNEX Corporation in 2003.
