Power Delivery business, through Potomac Electric Power Company (Pepco), Delmarva Power & Light Company (DPL), and Atlantic City Electric Company (ACE), engages in the transmission, distribution, and supply of electricity in Washington, D.C.; portions of Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in suburban Maryland; Delaware and portions of Maryland and Virginia; and in a service territory consisting of Gloucester, Camden, Burlington, Ocean, Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, and Salem counties in southern New Jersey. As of December 31, 2007, the company delivered electricity to approximately 1.8 million customers. Competitive Energy business, which is conducted by Conectiv Energy and Pepco Energy Services, engages in the generation of electricity; non-regulated marketing and supply of electricity and natural gas; and related energy management services, primarily in the mid-Atlantic region. Conectiv Energy provides wholesale electric power, capacity, and ancillary services in the wholesale markets and supplies electricity to other wholesale market participants under long- and short-term bilateral contracts. Conectiv Energy owned and operated mid-merit plants with a combined 2,725 megawatts (MW) of capacity, peak-load plants with a combined 639 MW of capacity, and base-load generating plants with a combined 340 MW of capacity. Pepco Energy Services provides retail energy supply and energy services to commercial, industrial, and government customers located in the mid-Atlantic and northeastern regions of the U.S. and the Chicago, Illinois area. It also designs, constructs, and operates combined heat and power and central energy plants. The company was founded in 1896 and is based in Washington, D.C. |
