Indiana's poultry industry donates 145,000 pounds of food to pantries across state

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- The Indiana State Poultry Association has donated more than 145,000 pounds of eggs, chicken, turkey and duck to food pantries across the state.

Lt. Governor Becky Skillman accepted the donation Monday at the Statehouse in her role as the state's secretary of agriculture and rural development.

State Poultry Association Executive Vice President Paul Brennan says the industry group has donated poultry products for hungry state residents at Thanksgiving for 62 straight years.

This year's donations were made by the following companies: Berne Hi-Way Hatchery, Creighton Brothers, Culver Duck, Farbest Foods, Hy-Line, North America, Maple Leaf Farms, Perdue Foods, Miller Poultry, Rose Acre Farms, Tyson Foods, Wabash Valley Produce and Chore-Time Equipment.
